WHY UNIFORM DIFFUSE LIGHTING IS NEEDED?

Color Appearance:

As the sunlight shifts its intensity and angle throughout the day, the colors in facets and internal structures of gemstones and diamonds also changes. This is also inﬂuenced by the surrounding environment and the types of light sources present. With the transition of day, the hues and shades within the stones too change. In the diamond and gemstone industry, it is essential to follow a standard light in diamond and gemstones and thus diﬀuse system. Uniform Diﬀuse Lighting helps to keep the consistency of the shades intact.

Consistency:

Varying wavelengths of the lights also lead to inaccurate assessment of the color. Thus, making the color of a diamond or gemstone shine diﬀerently in diﬀerent color shades. Grading Box:

It is designed to control the lighitng conditions while examining the diamonds. It consists of an enclosed environment with neutral-colored walls and a diﬀused light source.

Diamond Inspection Purpose:

Diamonds are inspected and graded on various factors including color, clarity, cut, and carat weight. It allows the gemologists to assess the quality and value of each diamond accurately.

Color Judgement:

Colors in the diamonds are one of the most pivotal factors. Even the slightest variation in it can signiﬁcantly impact a diamond’s worth. Gemologists use standardized lighting conditions to evaluate a diamond’s color on a scale ranging from colorless to light yellow or brown.
